Get creative to beat addiction!

I had some more thoughts about addiction and I believe that everyone, including myself, has some sort of addiction, whether it be big or small. If it is causing you problems with your health, relationships or interfering with work or study, then action needs to be taken as soon as possible. If it is some kind of minor annoying problem, then maybe you can try out the following approach.

When I get a chance, I like to take short holidays. I had one just recently, and I realized that when I stay in a hotel, I like to drink to try to distance myself from reality. In other words, get a bit drunk. I thought about why I like to do this, and why I feel that it is worth doing this, when the next day I may end up feeling terrible. I like how I’m able to reflect on my life and I feel that my mind becomes a little bit more creative than usual.

I then thought about what else I could do that wouldn’t affect my health and keep me in that creative state of mind. I thought, what about art. I’m not very artistic but may be now is the time to try. I decided that whenever I go on my next short break, I’ll take some art paper and some charcoal and try my hand at sketching. I believe that I can be my own therapist and try some art therapy on myself. I’m very keen on drawing landscapes, and I am hoping that I’ll get a good view from my hotel to inspire me to create some therapeutic art. I have a short break coming up soon and I’ll let you know how I go.
