Humans aren’t always the best solution

In last week’s post I talked about loneliness. Something that has been exacerbated by the pandemic due to the isolation that we have all been experiencing. I would like to use this post to talk about a cure for loneliness that many people may or may have not experienced.

Of course, human’s like to mix with other humans and this normally sorts out the problem of loneliness. It goes without saying that if people get along together, the loneliness will subside and happiness will take its place. It also helps if you can communicate well in terms of language. You can get a bit of a headache if you need to open up a dictionary every five minutes just to make small talk.

But there is more to communication than just language. Even if people speak the same language there are many messages that we want to convey that just get lost in translation. I mean people misinterpret our messages and this can leave us frustrated and in a way this could make us lonely.

So, what if I could say that we could just communicate with a stare, a touch or a pat. That is what you can do with a pet. Yes, that is what I am on about. Pets are a great cure for loneliness. Over the years I have confided with my pets. Actually, I didn’t really need to say anything. I just went to pat my cat when I was feeling anxious or worried about something. After a few pats and cuddles I felt like my problems would soon disappear. I felt like all of my worry was being transferred from my fingers and was neutralized in my cat’s fur. Maybe you think I am crazy, or maybe you know exactly what I am thinking about.

It is not just me apparently. Petting your cat can reduce your blood pressure and help you to be mindful by helping you adopt their way of living which is living in the moment. So, it may be worthwhile considering taking on a pet to cure your loneliness. It does not need to be a cat. You could work your way up to it by just buying a goldfish. Let me know how pets have helped you in the comments section.
