I am interrupting my ‘Music and how it can heal’ blog this week for a 6-month keto diet update.
This is one of my main goals on the Keto diet, to reach the 6-month mark.
This is because I have read that it takes about 6 months to truly be fat adapted and for your body to do well in exercise performance. I could say that my energy levels have improved in regards to my running. I am able to do long runs and not really feel that I need breaks in between. I am still benefitting from the low levels of inflammation and I am not getting cramps, well not that often.
Actually, a new thing that I would like to experiment with is called ‘Targeted keto’. This is a form of keto that allows for carbs as a form of energy boost when you are doing exercise. The idea behind it is that when you take carbs during and or before exercise you are able to burn them quickly and not slip out of ketosis. Ketosis is when your body runs on fat for fuel. I ate some sweet potato just before a long run and I had some stomach cramps so I was worried it was the carb intake that my body was not used to. We will have to see with some more experimentation.
I said that I will not really focus on the weight loss that I have experienced on keto, but I have decided to tell you anyway. I have lost almost 19kg. It fluctuates day to day depending on the amount of exercise I do, but I am not particularly planning on losing much else.
I will keep you updated when I get some more data on my Targeted Keto experiment. Stay tuned.
