Sometimes I wonder, why is life so hard. I think I am not the only one thinking that way, but I also think won’t it get easier someday. Sure, there are times when it gets easier, but there will always be hard times on their way again.
At times, I feel envious of others who seem to have an easier life. But in reality, they are also suffering as well. They may have no problem paying their mortgage, but they could be unlucky in love. Other people may have a great business that is making a lot of money, but a new competitor may be on the horizon, and they may have to work even harder to make the same money to beat the competitor.
I was recently inspired by a documentary on Netflix called Stutz. It is all about the actor Jonah Hill’s therapist. He introduced a concept called Aspects of Reality. There are three of them, Pain, Uncertainty and Constant Work. It really brought home to me that whenever we have some kind of success in life, we need to understand that it may be only short-lived and we need to come face to face with reality and be prepared for the pain, the uncertainty and accept that we also need to work hard to achieve an easier life again.
Whenever I sense that my life is getting harder, I always think about these three aspects, and it gives me comfort that I am not alone in experiencing these feelings. I will not spend too much time in the pity zone, and I will prepare myself to work harder and cross the strong currents of the river of pain and uncertainty.
It is true that life is hard, but that is not a problem. We all can get over any kind of obstacle to make a better life for ourselves and we also have the power withing ourselves to bounce back again whenever we need to.
If you need support in bouncing back, feel free to contact me to talk about it. The first session is free.
