Get out and see Cambodia!

I don’t usually do travel reviews on my blog, but I was excited to hear that Cambodia has recently opened to tourists. I went there back in 2018 and plan to visit again. I went to the famous Siep Reap province, which has some of the most historical buildings in Cambodia stretching from the 9th to the 14th century. I am not an expert in the history of Siep Reap, so I don’t want to focus on my lack of knowledge, but I do want to mention about my experience.

I tried many new things for the first time. I had a deep-fried spider. I could describe it as being crunchy yet chewy and also scary. I swam downstream from a waterfall that had ancient Khmer carvings featured in sandstone. I had a taxi experience of a different kind. Many of you are probably like me and are tired of taxi rides in your home country. In Siep Reap our taxi driver was our tour guide. Unlike some taxi drivers back home, he was kind, friendly and informative. He even showed me how to take a great photo of Angkor Wat. Yes, this is my original photo in this blog post. He also had some great skills in navigating the best times to avoid the big crowds at some of the most famous temples.

It is important to travel to reduce stress, improve your mode and overall well-being. We have all been having a hard time with the pandemic. I have been stuck in lockdown, then forced to work from home and being reluctant to even go out shopping. Now I am fine to go for local trips, but soon I am hoping to cross borders again. I am sure it will make me more of a pleasant person to be around, help me spend some money, hopefully not too much, and help the world economy get back on its feet in a small way.

Let me know if you are getting the travel bug again. Please find my links and the taxi driver tour links below.
