Have You Ever Catastrophized in Your Life?

I am continuing to run and adapt to living my life on a ketogenic diet with the help of the principles of narrative therapy and solution-focussed therapy to see me through it. I will keep you updated on my progress, but I would also like to explore some common disorders that every day people have.

Catastrophizing is basically thinking about the worst-case scenario in common everyday situations. It can be severe or not so severe. When you don’t get a reply to a text from someone that normally replies straight away, you may feel that something is wrong. Many scenarios may come into your head. You may ask yourself ‘Did she get into an accident?’ Did I say something to upset her? ‘Oh, maybe she is just busy? ‘But she always answers her phone straight away?’

Catastrophizing may cause you added anxiety and interrupt you from concentrating on work, your family and your social life. In the following blog we will look at how narrative therapy and or solution-focussed therapy can help.

‘Hold on, I just got a text.’ ‘Hi, sorry for the late reply, how are you?’
