A couple of weeks ago I talked about what for me is a new discovery, grounding. When I wrote about it on that Sunday, I didn’t know much about it; I was curious. From what I read about it, it seems like there are numerous benefits to the practice, and I was a bit skeptical about it. There have been many research papers written about it, books published about it and documentaries produced about the topic as well. I thought the proof is in the pudding, so I started doing it myself. It has only been 2 weeks since I started grounding, but I will tell you what I have experienced so far.
The first day I started grounding I hoped to get some kind of a relaxation from it. On that morning I had participated in a mini marathon so I was feeling a bit sore and so taking my shoes off and walking barefoot was, as you can imagine, quite refreshing. There were many obstacles to be overcome when walking barefoot. Even though I was walking on the soft grass, I was not immune to all of the insects living in the grass. I could feel something crawling on my feet and the occasional bite. I just ignored it, as I was determined to benefit from grounding.
I did some reading about how long we need to be grounded to get any kind of benefits. Basically, the more the better, apparently; however, a minimum of 30 minutes is ideal. The first couple of days were really only 10 minutes at a time, but I gradually increased them to 30 minutes. I used the timer on my phone to measure my time, and as long as I was doing 30 minutes at least once a day, I was satisfied.
I will tell you of a couple of ways that I believe grounding has really helped me. I learned that if I was worried about something, or feeling frustrated with something in my life, I could always take off my shoes, walk in the grass, and hold on to a tree. After doing that, I would find that I could find solutions to my problems quite quickly.
Another time may sound a bit ridiculous. I had a stomachache one time; it was bothering me for a while. After having a meal, it was even worse. I decided to go out and lie in the grass in front of my home and soon the pain subsided after about 15 minutes of so.
I am still skeptical about grounding, but I will continue to take at least 30 minutes out of my day to continue doing it. I hope the benefits continue, but I have not invested any money into it, and there does not seem to be any downside that I can see, so it is definitely worth my time. I recommend that you do it too, it may be a good idea to wear some kind of insect repellant if you are sensitive to mosquitos, etc. Let me know how you go.
